- Canal aspect: This is an area I know quite well - we bought my last narrowboat at Hilperton Marina, which is just opposite. I had to use a screenshot from Streetview as the agent's photos are a bit unhelpful - and one is of the wrong house! The development is a pleasant one, almost on the edge of the countryside, and there is potential to secure a mooring in the basin. This particular house is in a row which effectively sits on a peninsula between the marina basin and the Kennet and Avon Canal. The views are all from the upper floors, as the ground floor views of the Marina are obscured by the car parking fencing, and the views of the canal are mostly obscured by the hedging along the towpath, although the footpath to the side, which leads to the towpath, provides a narrow break in the hedge. The only other drawback is that you'll get occasional noise from Hilperton Marina, but it will be fun to watch the changing brokerage boats, the hire boats, and the crane lifts.
